Rosie O'Donnell said publicly that she is suffering from depression. If so, no one watching her loud, sneering rants on "The View" could ever tell. If I had to watch her every day on the tube, I'd need treatment for depression. Anyhow, with all her millions and no wandering KFed to worry about, what's to be depressed about?
Maybe the real reason for her depression is because, fortunately for everyone else, she's been aced out of the headlines by astronaut diapers, star funerals, Scooter sins and Bush fencemending. Rosie can't be faulted for her on-air bulldog personality, because since she joined "The View" the former boring gal-chat program has experienced an enormous viewership gain. Even boss Barbara Walters, who undoubtedly hates Rosie's guts, now just sits there every morning and stares like a doe in the headlights as the Rosie truck careens around the studio with loud comments about other showbiz people's faults.
She tried to grab the spotlight again recently by calling the "American Idol" racist for dumping an African American contestant.Yet, just a few months ago, Rosie did a shameful imitation of Chinese gestures while spitting out words "ching, chang, chong' rant. She took a lot of highly-publicized flak, and tried to extend her famous moment by publicly apologizing in a clumsy backhand way that reeked of total insincerity.
Her celebrated feud with Donald Trump and on-air imitation was another example of Rosie's grab for the headlines. You can be sure she was well aware at the time that she could double the effect because The Donald is just as much of a publicity hound as she is. It was worth it for Rosie, because the biggest boost in "The View" ratings happened during the battle.
Every time it seems Rosie goes too far with her intentional on-air insults, "The View" always receives thousands of angry calls for her to be booted off, maybe to join Star Jones in the unemployment line. But, you can be sure Rosie ain't goin' nowhere. As long as her antics rake in higher ratings and more ad bucks, the mean mouth that roars will continue to be heard, loud and sneer.
