Homemade Facial Oils For Beauty Treatments On Dry Skin
Facial Oils are great to use on your skin as part of beauty treatments because they will help to even out your skin. They are good for people who have dry skin because it helps to restore moisture to the skin. Dry skin is the result of the sebaceous glands not producing enough oil to keep the skin soft and supple.
This can in turn led to less supple skin, wrinkles and flakiness of the skin. The skin can become sensitive, prone to inflammation and dehydrated easily by central heating, sun and the wind. The skin can become prone to itching and peeling when you are suffering from stress.
When you wash your face the skin usually feels taut afterwards. Menopause and hormonal changes can also affect the skin and cause the skin to become dry. When the outer layer of skin is not hydrated from moisture that surrounds all cells which is interstitial fluid the skin then becomes dry, flaky and itchy.
This happens when there is an impervious barrier between the outer layer of skin and the layers below. The outer layer of skin is in fact dead and doesn't have the usual interstitial fluid around its cells. This layer of skin is not hydrated by the action of the sebaceous glands either.
However the Sebaceous glands act as a trap for the imperceptible and the visible perspiration that lubricates the outer layer of skin. The perspiration evaporates too quickly because there is not enough fat being produced which cause the skin to become dry.
Some good oil bases for skin that is dry are Almond, Apricot Kennel, Avocado, Olive, Soya Bean and Wheat germ Oil. Some good essential oils that you can also add to these base oils for dry skin are Borage Seed, Carrot, Evening Primrose and Jojoba. You should use 45 drops of essential oil to every 2 tablespoons of base oil for dry skin.
These oils can be hard to blend together so you should always shake up the bottle a few times before each use to make sure that the oils are blended well before you use them. Remember, you should always test a small area of skin before you use a new product to make sure that you don't experience some type of allergic reaction to the product.
Essential Oils that can be used on dry skin are as follows:
Benzoin Oil
Bois De Rose Oil
Calendula Oil
Chamomile German Oil
Geranium Oil
Hyssop Oil
Lavender Oil
Neroli Oil
Palma Rosa Oil
Patchouli Oil
Rose Oil
Sandalwood Oil
Here are some recipes for some oils that you can use on your dry skin as part of your beauty treatment. I hope you enjoy!
Dry Skin Daytime Oil
Ingredients:
5 drops Bois De Rose Oil
2 drops Carrot Oil
15 drops Chamomile German Oil
10 drops Evening Primrose Oil
5 drops Hyssop Oil
5 drops Sandalwood Oil
2 tbsp. Base oil of your choice
Mix all these ingredients together and store in a glass bottle with a screw on lid that is airtight. Shake up a few times before each use.
Dry Skin Nighttime Oil
Ingredients:
2 tsp. Avocado Oil
10 drops Benzoin Oil
10 drops Borage Seed Oil
10 drops Carrot Oil
10 drops Chamomile German Oil
20 drops Evening Primrose Oil
15 drops Geranium Oil
5 drops Hyssop Oil
30 drops Jojoba Oil
5 drops Rosemary Oil
2 tsp. Soya Bean Oil
2 tsp. Wheat germ Oil
Mix all these ingredients together and store in a glass bottle with a screw o lid that is airtight. Shake up a few times before each use. Apply this oil, leave on for 30 minutes and then tissue off the excess before going to bed.
