Drama: Drug addiction

Today I learned another life lesson. Now this can be a touchy subject for some so....for those of you who suffer from closed minds, and easily offended personalities, this is the time to hit the escape key.

Okay, so who has discovered how many different forms addiction can really come in? I know now, that there is an extremely fine line when it comes to addiction. When you really examine those around us, we are all basically addicted to something. It's all to familiar, and the next step is to figure out....which one, or TWO even, are you? I can admit to many. I don't mind. We know them well.

The girl who can't stop thinking about her lunch break at breakfast, and her dinner at her lunch break. Then....of course, she spends the small amount of time in between complaining about her weight problem......food.

Then there's the one who MUST have coffee at all times, buzzing around the workplace like a bee in HEAT! Their words run together, their eyes bulging out. They even get a little worried feeling when their cup is empty.....caffine.

Then, we all know the gossiper! This is one of the most powerful of all, because their addiction is so very contagious. You see they must be the first to know all, but if their own name is overheard, it can be enough to destroy them for a while......attention.

What about the one who constantly worries that they have done something wrong? They follow and ask continuously displaying their lack of self-esteem. Saying "I'm sorry" for things that weren't even noticed, and if your not dancing in front of them at all times, they think there is something wrong. These people are actually addicted to trying to make sure they are liked by everyone. Be kind to these type especially. They feel a lot of pain when you are mean, they are very fragile.

What about the one who talks constantly about their drunken outings, bragging in detail about the newest bed mate they took home the night before. They somehow don't even seem to have a clue which parts of their stories to leave out, to keep from appalling the rest of us. Then they become outraged when their reputation is questioned. This one could go many ways with addiction. Alcohol, attention, or maybe even sex.

I could go on forever. The pill popper, the drinker, the busy body ,the thief, and the ones who just set back and get entertainment from it all. What I have discovered though, is that we all have something, we really do, and we wouldn't be real people if we didn't. Some of us, more than others, and some of us need more help than others. What I know is that we are all people. People have feelings, and feelings can get hurt.

I wish we could stop pointing fingers, labeling eachother, and judging weaknesses, because each of those people have stong points that I admire, and love being around. Let's help eachother. Let's try to understand. Even some of the most annoying people we know where once little babies, and something made them the way they are today. Now I know, we can't all be the same, cuz that just wouldn't be any fun now would it?

And for those of you who have already made this discovery, and know what I mean....once again....hats off to you all.
