Do you have a nature lover on your gift list? A relative who it seems just can't wait to don the old hiking boots and head off into the back country every chance she gets? Maybe a friend who has sold his city home and bought a little fishing lodge way off in some remote little corner of the country that only the squirrels and the coyotes have heard about? Well these are the very type of people who sometimes seem the hardest to buy for.
These individuals are a very fine combination of past and present, and one has to determine which aspects of each they have chosen to maintain, in order to choose a gift which they will truly enjoy. They have made a firm choice to throw off the complicated shackles of today's hectic lifestyle, and retreat back in time to grasp onto and enjoy a simpler more natural way of life, but they are also not so foolish as to throw away all the benefits that modern living provides. They enjoy the advances in technology that our modern world has made available to them and gizmos and gadgets that aide in their back country treks are very much appreciated. A pedometer, global positioning device (GPS), altimeter, walkie talkie, digital camera or the accessories for one, are all very much appreciated gifts. Or you can always go with the older standby gift of a personalized compass as it never seems to go out of vogue.
But if you really truly absolutely want to find the perfect gift for your nature loving friends you need look no further than your local department store to find the hottest country gift item this year. It's been around for what seems like forever and yet it never goes out of style. For your country spirited friends the perfect gift this year is one that is comprised of that precious heavy metal known as cast iron. Yep, if your gift can sit on a wood stove, be nailed to a wall, or used to hit an intruder over the head with, then it is the perfect gift to give to your country friends and relatives this year.
There are cast iron frying pans, pots, kettles, and baking dishes of every size, shape and weight to choose from. But cookware isn't your only option; there are coat hooks and hangers, door knockers and door knobs, bird baths and bird perches, horse hitches and lucky old horse shoes to hang on the wall. From pieces of intricately detailed furniture to rough and tumble train sets with wheels that rumble as they turn; cast iron has it all and then some. There are even weather vanes to show you which way the wind blows in case you are slightly challenged and can't figure that one out on your own.
Cast iron is as popular today as it was a hundred years ago. That cast iron frying pan that grandma used to cook in years ago when you were a kid still looks good hanging on the wall today and everyone knows that a well seasoned cast iron pan only gets better with age. So for your gift giving this year give a gift that lasts forever, wrap up a little taste of the country, and give an item made of cast iron. It doesn't matter too much what the item is. It just has to be made of that precious heavy metal known as cast iron.
Your nature loving friends will appreciate it!
