Detox your body
These last couple of days i have been smoothie mad, not only are they good for you but it helps the digestive system too, here i have put together some recipes for you to enjoy as well as helpful advice on what each recipe provide.
MANGO MAD this is my number one top favorite . It's very filling and tastes heavenly- and it's a great way of getting your bowels moving, hence the liquid algae.
serves 1-2
1 large mango, peeled, stoned and roughly chopped
2 bananas, peeled and roughly chopped.
Liquid algae (the most easy-to-digest form of vegetable protein and a powerhouse of mineral nutrients) can be found in any health store
1 handful each of blueberries and raspberries, to serve.
Blend the mango, banana and liquid algae until smooth and creamy. Put the blueberries and raspberries in a tall glass, reserving a few raspberries. Pour the smoothie over the berries and serve garnished with the reserved raspberries.
This recipe requires you to have a juicer, which you can pick up from e.g Argos etc.
COOL AS A CUCUMBER. this is a great skin revitalizer! it's also one of the easiest juices to make because cucumbers have a very high water content, which makes them naturals for juicing.
Serves 1-2
1 cucumber, halved length ways.
2 celery stalks, trimmed.
1-cm piece of fresh root ginger (optional)
Drop into a juicer and away we go. perfect skin.
Juicer required:
WAKE ME UP!
This is a great wake me up juice.
6 carrots, trimmed
1-2 apples, roughly chopped
1-2cm piece of root ginger.
Back to the blender.
If you like anything that ends in berries then this is for you, i would say this is for your mojo.
serves 1-2
1 handful of strawberries
1 handful of blueberries
1 handful of raspberries
1 large banana, peeled and roughly chopped.
Blend until smooth and creamy then serve.
OK here is one for the kids. :)
Serves 1-2
2 plums, stoned
2 nectarines, stoned and quartered.
2 ripe pears, cored and roughly chopped.
Half a handful of blueberries
12 strawberries, hulled.
Add 120ml water. blend until smooth and creamy then serve.
I do love smoothies because i know where all the ingredients are coming from.
As well as loving them, my kids love making them and i even add a little ice cream to make milkshake, which is a great way of getting all those healthy vitamins inside them.
