The Enlightening Ajahn Bhram
To wake up to the deafening sounds of speedy drivers, loud trucks and the smell of exhaust fumes is the reality of this modern era.
In the midst of the greenery and hills, near the town of Serpentine lies the Bodhinyana Buddhist Monastery.
More than twenty tiny huts are scattered across the acres of land. It is here where the Buddhist monks serve their purpose of living.
The Bodhinyana Monastery is a place for peace, a place where these monks can practice their daily virtues in solitude.
Ajahn Bhramavamso, the current abbot of this monastery and spiritual leader of the Buddhist Society of Western Australia is the essence of the Buddhist tradition in Australia.
Ajahn Bhram established the Bodhinyana Monastery in 1983. A team of twenty monks and Ajahn Bhram completed the building of this monastery.
It was their determination, hard work and commitment which assisted them to successfully build their own Buddhist Monastery in Western Australia.
Ajahn also played an influential role in the development of the Dhammaloka Monastery in Nollamara.
The Dhammaloka Monastery is a place where women Buddhist nuns and monks are able to practice their teachings of Buddhism.
Human beings are quite complicated individuals. Our demands, needs, wants and desires are only a few of the many possessive qualities we share.
However living as a Buddhist monk is far less complicated and complex than living a life as a housewife or as an executive businessman.
Monks live a simple, care free and virtuous life. Inner peace is an element constantly strived for by the Buddhist monks.

The Buddhist monks live a life free of temptation and evil. An unimaginable relationship between nature, Buddha and oneself is the foundation, embarking a monk's life.
Born into a working class family, Ajahn Brahm had to face many struggles throughout his difficult life.
However, through his hard work, constant perseverance and following no religious regime, Ajahn was able to follow through his passion, to be a theatric physics teacher.
Ajahn Brahm born in London 1951, fulfilled his dream by earning his degree in theoretical physics and graduating from the prestige university, Cambridge.
From a young age, Ajahn Brahm did not follow nor practice any religious traditions or rituals.
