Once you have signed a mobile phone contract with a particular service provider you are tied to them for at least the duration of your contract. These contracts are often for a year or more so think carefully before signing; do you really want to be tied to this particular provider for the next year or so? Of course no matter how carefully you have thought about signing a contract, things can sometimes happen to make you want out of it. There are some ways to get out of this contract, although it will not be easy and may also be expensive.
The easiest way to get out of your contract is to pay the termination fee, which is usually the total amount of line rental that you would pay if you continued with your contract. This can be an expensive way of getting out of your contract, especially if you are in the first few months. As this is an expensive move many people choose not to take this option and either continue with the contract until it ends or find another way out of your contract.
If you want to end your contract to switch providers then there may be another way out of your existing contract. Some providers will pay your termination fee with your current provider if you agree to a contract with them, usually this contract will have a few extra months added on to it to cover the cost to them, but if you are going to get a much better deal every month then it may be worth considering.
If you are not getting the service you expected to get from your phone then you may be able to use this to get the company to cancel your contract. If for example you were told that you would receive a signal in the area you live in only to find out that you don't when you get your phone home, call the company quickly and ask to cancel your contract. Most if not all companies have a cancellation period written into their contracts, although you will have to be quick as this is usually only a few weeks or a month at best.
Think carefully before signing a contract for a mobile phone, or anything else for that matter. These big companies have teams of legal experts who write these contracts and they are good at their jobs so getting back out of a contract with them will not be easy. Only sign a contract for a mobile phone if you are willing and able to see it through to the end as getting out of your contract may be costly or even not possible.
