Queensland - The Gateway to a wide variety of fascinating holiday destinations and a world of adventures

The Sunshine State of Queensland encompasses the Great Barrier Reef, the outback, rain forests , tropical islands and idyllic beach culture. Brisbane, its capital is the centre of art, culture and vibrant energy.
Queensland is situated in the north east corner of the Australian mainland, bordered by the Northern Territory to the west, Southern Australia to the south west and New South Wales to the south. It accounts for 25 % of the land in Australia, with 4598 miles of coastline, surrounded by the Pacific Ocean.

There are 3.8 million inhabitants with another 2.1 million visitors each year. The airports are situated in Cairns and Brisbane where further domestic flights can be taken to explore the country further.
Named after Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom, after signing the 1859 proclamation, the state was separated from New South Wales. This popular monarch also had the state of Victoria named after her.
Tourism is the leading tertiary industry of Queensland with both interstate and overseas visitors to the Sunshine State.
Queensland offers many contrasts in its activities - sunny tropical coastal areas, rainforests, dry inland areas, the Great Barrier Reef, idyllic tropical beaches, unspoilt islands as well as its vibrant bustling cities.
At night the cities come alive, with many swinging bars and music beckon .
By day, there are the sweeping beaches, blue waters and mountain ranges to explore along with many hillside villages ripe for discovery during a scenic drive.
Accommodation ranges from camping, motels, hotels to beach front apartments and rustic cabins to suit all tastes and budgets. Major spa resorts and five star hotels offer a full range of pampering facilities to ensure relaxation when necessary to take a break from exploring the country.
There are opportunities to see wildlife in their natural habitats or perhaps visit the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbanes western suburb, give yourself a chance to get up chose and personal with a Koala !
This is the oldest and largest Koala sanctuary in Queensland
Here you can see, touch and feel the real thing, an experience never to be forgotten. The park has displays of Australian animals including wombats, Tasmanian devils, kangaroo's, emus, dingo's and koalas.
Just a 45 minute drive north of Brisbane locates Australia Zoo on the Sunshine Coast at Beerwar near the Gasshouse mountains.
