Do mothers who stay home get the recognition they deserve? Not all the time. A lot of people don't look at being a stay at home mom being a job but it is. A mother must be a doctor who can magically kiss the booboos away. At the same time, she is the nurse too. A mother is a teacher who guides her children on the right path and teaches them right from wrong. A mother is a friend who is there when her children need someone to talk to like a psychiatrist listens to his or her patients.
The difference between a mother who works away from the home and one who "works" at home is the fact that the stay at home mom is doing more than being a mom. She is also cleaning the home so those nasty germs stay at bay. She is also preparing a hot meal for lunch and dinner. These mother do all the house chores while being the mother. It is a never ending job with great benefits but can be just as tiresome as if she went to an office all day. While her two year old runs for the outlet, she must be able to catch the four year old from falling off the chair and hitting his head on the end table. At the same time, be on the phone talking to the doctor about the measles her eight year old has. Her husband will be home by six so dinner must be ready to serve when he walks in the door, not to mention the groceries have to be put away.
Those who have never been a stay home mom don't know what goes on in the average day. What things have to be done and when. All they see is after it has been done, not understanding that this woman has slaved over a hot stove, did laundry, scrub the bath tub after washing the stinky dog, went to the grocery store and put the food away, make the beds while cleaning the rest of the house, feed the kids who are home, and so much more. This is all depending on how many children there are as well. A mother with one child may have it easier than a mother who has five small children. Then again, a mother of a colliky baby may have it harder than a mother who has three children who are well behaved. Plus the ages need to be taken into consideration.
It is indeed a hard job for the stay at home mom. Do they have it easy? No, without question. Do people recognize their hard work? Yes, sometimes. But also, no. It depends on the husband of these wonderful women. Yes, he was at work all day, bringing in the money to pay for the things the family has. Yes, he will be tired and may want to rest when he gets home. It is only natural. But can you answer this? When does the mother take her break and rest? When the kids go to college, maybe.
