The website Yoga Journal is a must for die hard yoga practitioners. Even if you are just starting out, it's a great website to keep yourself 'in the know'. The information that is given will help you advance in your workouts, meet up with other enthusiasts, and share your knowledge of yoga.
At the website's main page, you are immediately drawn into the world of yoga. There are daily tips that are given out each day that you may find useful and thought provoking.
There are exactly 108 poses that you can do. If you are new to the world of yoga they do provide easy poses that you will be able to do. What I find interesting is that they put all of the poses into categories. On the left hand side of the screen you will see a list that includes, Anatomical Focus, Therapeutic Focus, and Contraindications.
The anatomical focus provides a list of parts of the anatomy that you'd like to work on. These are included on this list; abdomen, hamstrings, and liver.
The therapeutic focus is more about the mind rather than the body. The types of it's focus includes; anxiety, mild depression, infertility, pregnancy, and stress.
And the contraindications category deals with particular symptoms that you may be experiencing such as asthma, insomnia, and low blood pressure.
Healthy food intake is an important part of the yoga practice. Yoga Journal provides numerous vegetarian and vegan recipes. When searching for a particular meal, you are given options at the top of the screen as a checklist. This results in meals, snacks, and beverages.
Music also plays an important role. At Yoga Journal you will be given playlists by yoga teachers. They will post the music that they recommend that you listening to. You also get a brief description of the yoga teacher's background.
Ever wonder if you are doing a pose correctly and how to go in out of one with ease? There are podcasts, which are videos that are given to you in order to perfect your yoga practice. And I think this part of the website is one of the most useful and popular sections.
There is an interesting quiz that I found on the site. It's called the Yoga Snob Quiz. And it is basically giving you the chance to come clean about your yoga obsession. You take the quiz and at the end you will find out if you are becoming too involved and whether or not you ignore the people in your life.
And of course there is blogging. Everyone knows that lots can be done with blogging. You can share with others or just become more inspired by other members. And I find that this is useful because you may not know too many yoga enthusiasts in your area.
Yoga Journal also provides newsletters, tons of articles, resourceful directories, and so much more. If you are already a yoga expert or still just a beginner, Yoga Journal is a great place to get in share your stories and gain knowledge about the practice of yoga.
