Today is Pearl Harbor Day, something the Japanese tend not to recognize or remember. On 12/7/1941, the Japanese sneak attack in Hawaii changed the course of history, by forcing America to get off the sidelines and enter the fighting of WWII. Due to Republican isolationism and Democratic pacifism, President Franklin D. Roosevelt needed a decisive event to enable him to lead America into the fray. It is now known that he had advance knowledge of the Japanese plans to attack Pearl Beach and did nothing to warn fellow citizens. It was the gross atrocity he needed to be sure of American resolve. In the case of 9/11/2001, it has also been documented that President George W. Bush was warned repeatedly by allies and even Russia about an imminent major attack by terrorist Muslims. Despite such advance knowledge, Bush and Cheney acted completely surprised. That enabled them to react with indignation and the ready-made neo-con plans for militarization, foreign intervention and "controlled chaos". If Osama Bin-Laden had not obliged, Bush would have needed a false flag event to justify war.
There is a long history of false flag actions to justify military action and war. The firebombing of the Reichtag building in Berlin enabled Hitler to blame communists and consolidate political power in the lead up to WWII. He justified his actions as being defensive as Germany was obviously under attack. It was notorious, yet carefully orchestrated in the media. It occurred in apparent full view of the world. Pearl Harbor and 9-11 had these same characteristics. Without Pearl Harbor, Roosevelt had no chance of decisive American entry into WWII. Without 9-11, Bush could not water-down civil liberties, conduct a massive military build-up, tell waivering countries "either you are with us or against us" and invade Afghanistan and Iraq. Bush needed 9-11 to justify his "War on Terror", the intended basis of his neo-conservative presidential legacy.
Current evidence indicates that both Roosevelt and Bush allowed foreign enemies to attack a complacent America. Both presidents desperately wanted to lead America into battle against implacable foes. Without Pearl Harbor and 9-11, they could have been thwarted by peaceniks. In both cases, the sheer magnitude of the destruction caused America to reassess its standing in the world and conclude that decisive action was absolutely required. A key difference is that nobody suggests that Roosevelt actually participated directly
