When to plant grass

How does that old saying go? The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Doesn't it seem true when you peer over your neighbor's fence looking longingly at the lush ultra green grass on the other side. And you are wondering just how your neighbor got that grass so green it looks like someone snuck over in the middle of the night and painted all that beautiful grass in.

In fact you are wondering how so many people get their grass to look like a Jack Nickalaus professionally grown and manicured putting green. Then you start wondering if that noise you heard in the middle of the night was your neighbor working on his golf course looking lawn.

You might want to feed your grass with a fertilizer. Make sure you water your newly sprouting grass often. But the key here is to not overwater it, because then the seeds might just float away.

You can also plant grass in the summertime and in the fall. I've seen professional landscapers plant grass in the Northeast in November. The day they planted it was about 40 degrees outside and it was windy. In fact the mixture of seed and nutrients they were spreading on our neighbor's lawn was blowing onto the street and onto the next door neighbor's lawn.

When they were done planting the grass onto the newly laid mixture of a light dose of soil, the landscapers put a heavy covering of hay over the
