Living in the lucky country of Australia

Living in the lucky country of Australia

Well I am a fair dinkum Aussie, bout half Scot too but was born in this great land of the free and raised on the top of a mountain named Arthur's Seat. (there is a similar mountain in Scotland after which it was named). Well blue, clear water, sunny days in summer, balmy nights and green green gum trees all round. I thought it was great and the freedom. Why on the farm I had a horse and a bike and could roam at will through the hills to views of the great Southern Ocean and watch the wedge tail eagles soaring on high; these eagles are uniquely Australian. Melbourne is one of the great cities of the world and this was only an hour away and has hosted the Olympic Games in 1956 which I was lucky enough to attend. Many overseas artists include Melbourne on their itinerary and are not disappointed with their stay.

Later in my life I decided to explore this huge continent; it is actually the smallest continent or the largest island whichever way you want to look at it. Well for one we have a great leader in Kevin Rudd who is young, with it and fiercely proud of our independence and will promote it at any cost. We have thousands of square miles of open country, desert and mountain that is full of the freshest air you can breathe . We have some of the greatest beaches in the world and thousands of miles of coastline which is one big beach. We have snow and tropics and colorful desert and lush green hills full of dairy cattle; a very colorful and diverse country. As far as animals go, we have one of the most unique collections of flaura and fauna on the planet. The diversity is amazing. Kangaroo, platypus, koala, wombat, flying possums and cassowary birds.

Now lets address the title of this article living in such a place. My wife and I live atop another hill looking over the same view that I grew up with, so in the bushland five minutes from the beach, perfect living for us. Oh, and it's at least an hour away from the city of Melbourne. It would be best to tackle the rest of this article by describing a journey we had when we took off for five years and traveled in our camper van to have a look at this lucky country. Well we felt so lucky to be able to do this. The
