Reflections: What love has done to me?

It sounds so cliche`. Ahh, to be in love. What a dream life becomes. I've had my fair share of relationships. There are those that make you laugh, looking back at how naive you used to be. There are those that make you shudder, at how stupid you've been. There are those that will always leave you wondering what exactly went wrong- everything seemed so perfect. Once you find the one you truly love, you really are left to feel one thing, "DUH!". Yes, all those stories of people's better halves being right under their noses are true. Often, it turns out to be someone we didn't initially categorize as a romantic possibility even. Love will find you from the least expected source, when you least expect it. It all sounds rather simple, but really you can't force the issue when it comes to dating.

I met my boyfriend in college. We both were enrolled in a summer class, and had limited interaction with one another. It wasn't until the fall semester was in full swing that we came to appreciate one another's company so much. We went to a small private college, so there were always the same friendly faces in all our major courses. It just so happened that nearly all our classes that semester were together. We would sit next to one another in class & hang out in between. We even found we shared mutual friends from our separate courses. We would all hang out outside of school & everyone but me knew he had a major crush on me. Over Christmas break, we got together just the two of us. Something was definitely in the air because our interaction never felt date-like before, & this time it did. He was such a gentleman- opening doors for me & complimented my outfit/hair. He wouldn't let me pay for the meal & on the way to meeting up with our mutual friends at a party, he gave me a heartfelt Christmas gift. I love the "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" clamation movie & he got me some cute ornaments to add to my collection. I felt bad because I didn't think we were exchanging gifts, so therefore had nothing in return. I thanked him over & over & we went to the party. At the party, everyone we met thought we were together because of how we acted around one another. We're very comfortable with one another & can totally be our goofy selves. After the party, we continued to hang out one-on-one a lot, each time feeling "date-like" yet nothing happened between us. I was definitely beginning to understand he had a greater affection for me than just friends & had to admit that I was enchanted
