I bought my Samsung 6 months ago around the time it was released. It was a very good investment. I was primarily looking for a High-Definition TV to play Xbox 360 games on. I chose Samsung as the Xbox 360 was designed using Samsung TV's and all the demo pods use them. So I thought, this must be good for games and it was, there is even a game mode, which when you press a button adjusts the screen to suit gaming.
Picture:
The Samsung is fully HD ready so you can start watching HD content straight out of the box, no extra things to buy. The picture quality is superb, in my opinion, especially when watching DVD's, although I can't say too much about terrestrial as I get an awful signal where I live. It runs at a native resolution of 1366 x 768, which means there are 1,366 horizontal lines and 768 vertical lines. This resolution is perfect for playing games. On the menu there are 4 picture types: Standard, Dynamic (which is brighter), movie (this gives a funny green wash over things and I don't use it) and custom allowing you to customise your own viewing preferences. The picture quality is brilliant and I haven't encountered any of the problems of other LCD's (not bad for 5 months). You can also change the size of the picture: Auto Wide (which automatically adjusts the screen), 16:9 (normal widescreen ratio), Zoom (this allows you to move the picture up and down and zoom in and out) and 4:3 (non-widescreen TV ratio).
Sound:
This is where the Samsung falters slightly. The sound isn't too bad in my opinion, but when I tried to connect my multimedia player it was really quite a low sound. The major problem I here is that the sound doesn't go loud enough, but mine is in my bedroom which is quite small so this doesn't affect me. Although on some DVD's you have to turn the volume up to over half to hear it.
On the menu there are 5 sound settings: Standard (which is a good quality), Music (which handles music better for the music channel), Movie (this mode is more balanced so good for watching big, loud battle scenes as well as the quiet bits), Speech (for watching dramas where there is lots of speech) and Custom to customise the sound to your taste.
Connections:
There are quite a few connections at the back of the TV including HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) which is the best form of connection allowing brilliant picture and sound. There is also: Scart (for connecting freeview boxes and DVD players), S-video (a different type of connection)
