When you heard of the word "practical" or "practicability" what words or meaning would pop out of your mind?
For me, "practical" or "practicability" means applying what you've learned, being useful in everyday circumstances or just merely putting things into practice. Education would be the development of knowledge, skills and abilities by teaching, training, study or experience.
By the meaning of education, we can clearly state that it is not merely theories or high academic grades but also in experience & practicability to make the most of it. There are plenty of ways to practice or to apply but I would go with manual training.
Manual training is the most basic and it is the kind of education where you can be of good use to the community as well as yourself. You could help and be efficient and effective in all things & put to good use what you have learned. Just study without practice would be worthless. How would you be able to benefit from the things you've learned without applying it? Now I'm not telling you to disregard the study and the other aspects (as you may think to just work & work and work without even thinking) because intellect is also important.
There are plenty of things that you may call manual training just like agriculture, or specifically, planting. "No line of manual training is of more value than agriculture". This is the line that I have read from a very good author. Of course, she's right. God designed man to till the earth in the first place. And this kind of practical work is very useful and effective for everyone. You can earn a livelihood through this and you can also meditate and have time to appreciate God's creations with this. It gives you peace of mind. But if ever, you cannot or do not want this kind of manual training, there are plenty of things you can do just as in doing the household chores like washing the dishes, cooking, fixing your bed, sweeping the floor & so on.
Some people find these practical works very degrading. But what they think is wrong. They need to learn that "no man or woman is degraded by honest toil". You would really be surprised of the things that you will learn about the reality of life by doing these simple tasks (you know, we're here in reality). It may seem normal to you but actually, through looking over with things, you may find it much better.
In manual training, it would also matter on how you do your work. You also have to make sure that you did your work well and may be regarded as "very good" because it can benefit others & give you an inner feeling of satisfaction. You have to be faithful in every work you have and do it for the glory of God.
When you performed this right, you will benefit from it. You will learn to support and depend on yourself without incurring debts to anyone. With this, you will learn the value of time, money, strength & opportunities. This training will prepare you a higher & more suitable job because in being faithful in small & simple things prepares you for big things.
For those who read this article, what do we know about the future? Maybe tomorrow, next month, next year or the coming decades, you will benefit in reading & applying what this article has said. Who knows? You may be rewarded in the future.
