Take a quick tour of Fuel.tv and you'll find you're in a different world then other social networking sites. Fuel.tv offers many of the same features as MySpace.com and Facebook.com, but Fuel.tv goes beyond being able to talk in cyberspace to your "friends". This website allows you to communicate with other extreme sports fans as well as upload videos, read blogs, find websites of companies associated with extreme sports, and a calendar of events for events around the country.
Navigating the website is easily accessible and even the less then tech savvy person would be able to find what he or she was looking for. By having links on top of the page that each has a drop down menu, there is little searching for the place one wants to navigate to. The graphics of each page are interesting yet not overwhelming as some sites can be. Another added bonus is that there is no blaring music offending the ear when you enter the site.
Digging deeper into the website, I found the links to be a great place to find more information about companies, photographers, footage, and blog sites specific to extreme sports. Here is a spot to find information that might not be found in one spot at the same time anywhere else. Look into the photographers' links and look at people who take tasty pictures of all those people who make skateboarding look like my grandmother could do it, or the snowboarder who floats through the air over one of those amazing road gaps in Colorado.
Trek on over to Downloads and find desktop wallpaper that you can download to your computer to replace the picture of trees. There are also icons designed by Fuel.tv that you can use to "trick out your documents and folders". At the bottom of the Downloads page, there are stencils that you can use to create screen prints or stickers, but only to use on things that you own!
On top of being able to view photos, videos, download media, find links to websites; you can also connect to people across the country that have the same interests as you. This social networking aspect of Fuel.tv is much like MySpace.com where you can add friends, join different groups, post blogs and search for people in your area that are Fuel.tv members. The difference is that the people here are members of this site because they are skateboarders, snowboarders, surfers, bikers or other extreme sport participants and are not a hodge-podge of individuals like on MySpace.com and Facebook.com.
Fuel.tv is a great website for those who are interested in extreme sports and want to stay connected or want to meet new people who share the same interests as them. The ease of use and the availability of information throughout this website offer much more then other social networking sites and I would give the website an A.
