DirecTV is a satellite TV provider in the United States. I have DirecTV and would like to tell you what I think about it. I will discuss the reliability, the packages/prices, and the services available.

First, lets discuss the reliability of DirecTV. People may say that satellite TV is not good because it uses satellites and will go out all of the time. In my experience DirecTV usually works fine. I have not had many problems with DirecTV. It has gone out before, but not for long. You should not have a problem unless there is bad weather outside. Then it might go out temporarily. The signal that I have seen is great! Try to make sure that the installer takes his time in finding the signal. If they rush, they might not get the best signal. I do not recommend the DirecTV DVR. I have seen many problems with it. The HDDVR works much better. You should be fine with a standard receiver though.

Next, lets discuss the packages/prices. DirecTV offers several packages. They have ones for people who only want a few channels and some for people who want everything. The cost of the packages range from $26.99-$86.99. DirecTV has many good deals. Check out their website often.

Finally, lets discuss the services that DirecTV offers. They have 101, Active, Nascar Hotpass, Game Lounge, On Demand, and more. On 101 you can see concerts and other music/celebrity related shows. The DirecTV Active is something that allows you to get information such as weather and popular shows. They show you what many people are watching at that time. With Nascar Hotpass you can follow some drivers and view things that other people can't see with many views. With Gamelounge you can actually play games using your remote. I think they allow you to do it for free when you first sign up with DirecTV.

I think one of the best features that DirecTV offers is DirecTV On Demand. You can only get On Demand with an HDDVR. It does not use the satellites to get shows, it uses your internet connection. So you need to have a high speed internet connection to use the service. If you want to watch something On Demand you need to record it. You cannot just play it instantly (unless you have a super fast internet connection). It might take sometime to download depending on your internet connection and the length of what you are downloading. Since it does not use satellites for On Demand you can download something from On Demand and two additional shows using the satellite at the same time. It is amazing how much it can do at the same time! There is only one main thing that I don't like about DirecTV On Demand and that is that there is not a big selection of HD programs. I think there should be a lot more available.
In conclusion, I think DirecTV is a good choice for TV. There are not many things that I don't like about it. Overall, it is working fine. I am very satisfied with DirecTV and would recommend it to someone else.
