INTRODUCTION
The Mexican League Game between Atlas and Tigres was played in Jalisco Stadium in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. The game was transmitted live by Telefutura [the US Latin Station that is the sister station of Univision].
FIRST HALF
The First Half got off to an uneventful start as both teams were battling for possession of the ball. Regardless, it appears that in attempts to score a goal, Atlas and Tigres were unable to score. All of this changed within thirty nine Minutes with the first goal of the game for Atlas by Mendivil using a head kick. The Atlas Supporters were ecstatic and this stimulated the players to attempt another goal. Unfortunately, Vidio received the first booking of the game at forty five Minutes for Atlas for unprofessional behaviour. The first half finished with Atlas scoring 1 and Tigres scoring zero.
SECOND HALF
The Second Half got off to a shaky start with Atlas prolonging the clock while attempting another goal while Tigres needed an equalizer or a victory in order to avoid relegation in the Mexican League. Unfortunately, this was not to be since both teams appeared exhausted and just wanted to finish the game. This lead to costly mistakes such as kicking the ball over the goal post or on the sides. As the game wore on, Atlas receives the second booking after with Torres being on the receiving end for antiprofessional behaviour [foul] at eighty minutes. At eighty four minutes, it was the Tigres turn to receive a booking after Cabrera committed another foul. Afterwards, it was over.
REFLECTION
While Atlas was able to hold on to its lead, it was unable to play an exciting game after the end of the first half. Atlas appeared to have been fatigued and with the attitude of wanting to finish the game. This is not the way to play football. Mendivil was able to save Atlas with his head kick goal and give excitement to a game that was lackluster. Tigres on the other hand were not playing to avoid relegation. Tigres appeared to wander off aimlessly and they paid the price.
Atlas 1-0 Tigres
Atlas: 5/10
Tigres: 5/10
