South Carolina is a hunter's haven, more so when you set foot on South Carolina's 'Bostick plantation.' There are no fences to restrict your movements or your quarry's. This makes for an adrenalin packed hunting experience like no other. With a very successful trophy buck program, which protects the younger bucks, the enthusiastic hunter will be appreciative of the four to six pointer criteria. This gives the determined hunter a better chance of bagging that prize trophy.
DEER HUNTING:
With hundreds of acres of breathtaking, unblemished, natural terrain providing ample food for game, the atmosphere seems quite medieval. It's almost like the setting for Robin Hood. Peas and rye are planted here and these certainly lure a great number of deer to the area. Many areas also have deer-stands erected, and these are deemed as high performance areas. Therefore favored spots where the large bucks like to roam,( the local hang-out for want of a better description )
These stands don't just offer excellent concealment, they also offer comfort and safety. These are so well camouflaged I swear you will feel like a commando! Take a three day hunt which is highly recommended for a better chance of bagging a beauty! Come on, you know you want to, so why not?
BOAR HUNTING:
Well I'll be hog-tied! If that's not enough to lure the avid hunter you can even enjoy the best hog hunting in the entire south! The Russian Bores are breeding well in the plantation swamps. These very alert hogs are actually kin to the Russian Bores which were imported by Bostick relatives/ancestors, and released many years ago. They're aggressive and as tough as you could hope to find. They sure make you work for your trophy. Yet that's half the fun I guess, the challenge.
The swamp and river bottoms conceal them well, and many are to be found down by the Savannah River where the plantation comes up to meet the watershed. These hogs are smart and very elusive, they play the hunting game so well and tip the scales at 400 pounds plus! Now is that a load of "hogwash or not? " Just kidding folks, but that's certainly a trophy and a half! Wow you wouldn't wish to meet up with one of these suckers (pardon the pun) without a weapon.
With 10,000 acres of hunting terrain your only problem will be selecting your hunting area. You will have the option of stand hunting or dog hunting. Be alert at all times, as many hogs have been taken while on a deer hunt. Why not stay for the allowed two days
