For many years I have waited and searched for a perfect digital companion, and have found it in my Treo 700w. My day begins with an alarm from my Treo, which wakes me to the kitchen, where I start the coffee that will help propel me the rest of the way out the door to work. After getting showered, dressed, and kiss my wife, I make sure I have all the necessities for the day namely Bluetooth headset(s), both my Jawbone hands-free, and Motorola S9 Stereo headsets, backpack, and another coffee for the road.
I meet my fellow vanpoolers a scant 20 minutes later, and after crawling into the back of the van, making some small talk, and getting comfortable, I pull out the S9, fire up the Treo and listen to some music while I grab a few extra winks on the 50 minute trip to work. For those days I have to drive myself, either to work, or elsewhere, and there isn't anything decent on the radio, I am looking forward to replacing or enhancing my car stereo with a Bluetooth or FM receiver to stream music directly from Treo, or adding GPS capabilities so I don't get lost when I don't know where I'm going.
After we arrive, I make my way to my cubicle where I quickly check my schedule, scan email, then pop down to the coffee shop for my morning Java (coffee not software). Taking advantage of the free Wi-Fi, I plug in my Palm Wi-Fi adapter (I am looking forward to Palms upcoming Treo 800 with Windows Mobile 6 and built-in Wi-Fi) check quotes, weather, my home email, and launch MSN Messenger to say a quick good morning to my wife if she is online.
Back in my cubicle, I put on my S9 to listen to music again, drowning out my excessively loud cube-mates, actually getting some work done. A call comes in on the Treo, it's my wife, and Windows Media Player automatically pauses so I can take the call, then resumes when the call is done. Later, I'm stuck in a meeting (a long, tedious one), and I send a quick text message to my wife about how much fun I'm having, NOT! After trading our secretive quips, the meeting is finally over and I meander back to my desk. While doing some research for one of my systems, my Treo reminds me of a task that needs my attention, so opening the Notes applet; I jot down some information for me to look up later.
It's finally lunch time. With the ideas fresh in my mind, I open Word Mobile and make a quick rough draft of a new article idea. While I finish my lunch, I start to listen to the "book-on-tape" that I downloaded from the library
