Title endorsed in part by:

Did you know whose homes were flooded during hurricane should be cautious about companies that claim to eliminate mold, according to one Federal Emergency Management Agency official who favors technology used to kill anthrax spores. The FEMA disaster assistance employee based on Big Pine key, said he's heard horror stories about people paying thousands of dollars for mold removal only to find out the process didn't work. However, he said is aware of one company, Sabre Technical Services, that is using a gas to successfully eliminate mold using the same technology it used to clean federal and private buildings contaminated with anthrax a few years back. And a Big Pine Key termite company is assisting. Boswell said locals have been approached by companies using a product that allegedly raises the temperature in the home to get rid of mold-but it doesn't work. Another method using ozone air filtration also doesn't work, he said. I was told that one company went into a home, bored holes in the walls and pumped something in the walls they said would elevated the temperature of the house and that would eliminate the mold, but it didn't, "said Boswell. "They paid thousands of dollars. I'm seeing that people are grasping for anything, but they don't have accurate knowledge." the chemist and the CEO of Sabre Services is affifiated with former New york Mayor Rudolph Giuliani's Partners. Mason called to Washington, D.C. the day after the anthrax contamination of one of the federal buildings. He said he was told he had a patrotic duty to help out. The company also was called in to clean up two post offices in Washington,D.C. and a buliding that housed the National Enquirer in Boca Raton. mason is now New Orleans, cleaning mold from structures there. The company was founded in 1995, but did not get into the cleanup business until 2001. Before that, the company sterilized a 1,500-acre lake filled with toxic gases and removed toxic chemicals from landfills. "we used to be a division of Tennessee gas company and then founded Sabre, " mason said. At the time, the company was looking at chlorine dioxide, a gas, as a cleaning agent. "It was the ultimate choice because of long-term human use by the EPA in the water industy and its aspects on human health are well understood, "he said, "Nobody had tried this before. He said he was reluctant to look at mold because it's a differnce industry and not very well regulated. Mason said the mold-cleaning industry grew out of the asbestos removal industry, which was dying. "people who jumped into it tried to use the same things as they had for asbestos, "he said. But he said technical people in the public and private sides encouraged Mason. he found that a gas was the only effective method of eradication, and chlorine dioxide was the only gas that cold travel through an entire structure. Antone whose was flooded for 24hours or more during hurricane will have a mold problem.he said. The company conducted studies that studies that were overseen by the U.S. Evironment Protection Agency and the centers for Disease Contok and Prevention a year ago. "once completed the {contaminated} house had growth of bacteria or viruses.
