Poetry: Love at first sight

As I sat at the table in a silent conference room,
I left the lights off, I let the darkness consume,
My brain became null, my heart became ill,
My eyes did shutter from the pain I did feel,
My spirit was stagnant, my pride was the past,
I was losing myself, I was losing me fast.
The door was closed, still a song came through,
A voice that sparked a flame that grew,
How could a voice, a voice so new,
Awaken my soul, from all decency subdued,
My body was tense as I strained my ear,
An attempt to hear more, as the voice came near.
My throat was dry, hands clenching the table,
When the door does open, oh will I be able,
To converse with the owner, owner of that voice,
Do I possess the power, the power of choice,
To remain myself as all this unfolds,
Must I be myself, so strife yet bold.
The door handle rattled, the hinges did creek,
My thoughts were gushing, my mind sprung a leak,
The light rushed in defeating the dark,
Her beauty had stunned me before I could start.
Or even attempt to begin conversation,
I felt so overwhelmed, dreaded hesitation.
At once a silhouette with a radiant glow,
My eyes focused in, oh ever so slow,
Her dark hair shinning, her eyes so bright.
Her lips were full, she carried the light,
could it be actual, have I felt loves bight,
is there really such thing as love at first sight?
