To make your own ring tone for FREE:
1) Using Windows Media Player rip the audio tracks you want to use as ring tones from the CD.
2) The audio track will be saved to your library and will be in a folder located in My Music'.
3) Open your web browser and go to http://www.mediaconverter.org/index.php?s=faq
4) You are able to convert files through the browser or you are able to download a copy of the conversion software http://www.mediaconverter.org/download/mc-installer- 0.8.exe for free. To save time I would advise downloading the software.
5) After you have downloaded, installed and opened the Media Converter', click on "open file" select the audio track you ripped from the CD.
6) Choose where you will save the converted file, select "wav" as the file type you wish to convert to and click on "convert".
7) Open your web browser again and go to www.download.com download the audio editing program, "Audacity" (it's freeware).
8) After you install Audacity', right click on the audio track you converted. Select "open with" and then select Audacity'.
9) Audacity will open and you will see a waveform of the audio track you ripped from the CD. Now comes the hard part, which isn't really that hard. It's just time consuming.
10) Using Audacity' play the audio track, note the time frame of the audio you want to use for your ring tone.
11) Using your mouse, left click and highlight the portion of the audio track you're using for your ring tone.
12) Click on "Edit" and select cut.
13) Click on "Project" and select "Create new stereo track"
14) Click inside the box of the new stereo track, click on "Edit" and select "Paste".
15) Now you have to close the original audio track, click on the "x" for the audio track. Do not click on the "x" for "Audacity".
16) Click on "File", select "Export as WAV" (there is an option to export as an MP3, but you will not be able to do so without downloading additional software associated with "Audacity") and save the new audio track, I would suggest adding a "1" after the name of the file. (easier to identify the new file).
17) Using the media converter software, open the file we just saved and convert that from a wav file to a MP3.
Once you have converted MP3 you're able to upload it to your cell phone using your USB cable or a Bluetooth connection.
