White Flowering Annual Sweet Alyssum

Sweet alyssum is a white flowering annual that makes a great ground cover. Easily propagated by simply spreading the seeds in the early spring, alyssum grows well in full sun. The plants are mere inches tall and have small clumps of delicate white flowers. They look wonderful in the garden growing in drifts around showier plants.

White Flowering Annual Crepis

Many of the varieties of Crepis are actually considered weeds, but one variety, hawksbeard, is quite attractive. It reaches heights of about one foot and has low plants with soft green leaves. On stalks above the leaf clumps, white, daisy-like flowers blossom. The flowers last throughout the spring and summer on this annual flowering plant.

White Flowering Annual Gypsophilia

This white flowering annual, Gypsophilia, is more commonly known as Baby's breath. This annual grows to around two feet tall and has delicate leaves with many small white flowers at the top. These plants are frequently dried for use around roses and other bouquet flowers. There are also pale pink varieties of Baby's breath. It should be grown in a sunny spot in the garden. It blooms from late spring to early fall.

White Flowering Annual Nicotiana

Nicotiana also comes in pink varieties, but the white type is very attractive and showy in the garden. Nicotiana is actually a type of annual flowering tobacco and will grow from ten to sixty inches tall. The leaves form clumps close to the ground and have spires of star-shaped white flowers at the top.

White Flowering Annual Mullien

Mullien is a very tall white flowering annual plant. It can also be a biennial in climates that are more temperate. Mullien can reach heights of three to six feet. Their leaves are large and grey-green, forming large clumps near the ground. A tall stalk grows out of this clump and bursts forth with many small yellow and white flowers. Since this plant is so tall, it is perfect for the back of your garden plot.
