Saving eBooks on an iPod

In real sense, a book is an eBook because it is read and passed across electronically, even through the Internet. If this definition is true, then the format of the eBook shouldn't matter much be it TXT, PDF, DOC, etc.

However, somehow, by default, the electronic world, through the internet, has unconsciously accepted mainly one format to save an eBook the PDF format, due to its flexibility and other good features.

So how do you save an eBook (PDF book) on your iPod? Is it possible? Yes! Then how? Read on!

Saving eBooks on an iPod is actually done through a manual process until Apple provides something better. This method is explained below.

With your computer, simply open the eBook with its default software, Adobe Acrobat Reader. Remember, Apple hasn't provided any software application for eBook reading or creation yet, but there is news that they are on the verge of doing so. Well, let's hope they don't forget.

So, after you have opened your eBook with Acrobat Reader, go to the FILE menu and click on PRINT. This should open up the Print Dialog Box.

As soon as the Print Dialog Box or Print Menu opens, you will see an Option List Box at the bottom-left of the screen. Simply select "Save As PDF For iPhoto". This option will immediately start converting your PDF eBook into an iPhoto format that is compatible with your iPod.

As soon as the conversion is complete, you will be prompted to save it. Save it in a good folder. Save in a folder you can easily trace or remember.

Caution: It is quite advisable to have thoroughly viewed the whole of your eBook in Acrobat Reader before transferring to your iPod, to ensure the eBook is in the right structure.

Now, connect your iPod to your computer and upload the saved iPhoto eBook to your iPod. You can now view the eBook using your iPod with all clarity.

This method will do for now until Apple solves the problem as they are already planning to do. It is true that by now they should have thoughtfully provided a software application to handle this issue.

It is also true that Apple would have responded to a case like this if their customers have been sending complaints in previous years. The need for this only arose not too long ago and that's why Apple is just dealing with the situation.

Within the next couple of months, we should expect the solution from Apple.
