Books are very valuable for everyone who wants to learn and increase their knowledge. Our children have very impressionable minds. And they need to be absorbing good and knowledgeable stuff in order to make their brains work more efficiently and in the right direction. With the onset of the Internet and Television, kids have started a losing a taste for reading. Which in fact is more beneficial than the other two. The only books they normally read, are the ones which are a part of their syllabus in school. It is up to their parents and elders to take the responsibility of making them enjoy the process of reading a book. And to make it a favorite past time.

All books have precious information in them. They have been written to make lay people like us more knowledgeable and better equipped with facts and figures. Eg. Books on the great history of the world, tells us so much about our ancestors and the rich heritages of different countries. Geographical books tell us all about our earth, the global weather conditions and new discoveries of islands. Science books tell us all about the past and the latest inventions. There are other books on space, wildlife, sports, detective, adventure, family centered books, etc. There is a wide range to choose from. Each one has its own special place. But do remember, a little of each and every subject is vital in developing the opinion of your child. Also his intelligence levels are further increased as his knowledge grows gradually and steadily.

Books can be their very best friends at times when they have no friend. They need to understand the importance that books have in their lives. If they have lost a love for books, then help them re-create the same. All this great wealth of knowledge will remain with them throughout their lives. Books seem boring to children today, because of the other various distractions which seem most exciting. But in the long term, it is books that have the most positive impact on their brains. Children need to create an interest and make room for books in their lives. They will never regret it. They also have a lot of questions, which most of time we cannot completely satisfy. Use this opportunity to make them pick up a book and read. And when they find the answer, they were looking for, they would definitely thank you. Guide them in the path of reading, and believe me they will never depart from it. I personally started reading from the age of five, and till now the reading habit has stuck like glue. Make it interesting for kids, and they will enjoy, yet learn at the same time.
