Testimonies: Experiences with labor unions and management

Labor Unions and Management.

I have worked for non-union companies for just about all my life. For the last 4 years I not only have been working for a company with a union, but have been a member of the union. And folks it just amazes me as to the outright "hatred" between unions and management. But also the outright harassment, verbal abuse, threats and witch hunts that goes on by management towards union members, but! With very little action to stop this practice by the unions. I also have seen little action by the union to take action against union members for not doing their job.

I know, North Carolina is a "right to work state", for what that is worth. I have been told that a company has the right to fire you without probable cause, but does that prevent them from the above accusations that I have made?

During my 30 years of employment, yes, I have seen, racial discrimination, sexual discrimination, I have see harassment, abuse, and heard the threats, both to someone else and to myself. And I have been the "victim" of "reverse" racial and sexual discrimination in the work place.
Having said that, what I am seeing now totally blows my mind! I have heard it first hand, and seen it, and have experienced it, and I cannot believe that it is allowed to happen. Management (and not all I should add), treat the union members with such disrespect that if that were to go on between management themselves, it would not be tolerated what so ever and most of the time, someone would lose their job for the disrespect. I also know how much pressure is put on the lower management to meet corporate expectations.

I have heard first hand management fire off these verbal threats, abuse and accusations to union members. When I asked union members about this treatment, the response would be "that's the way it has all ways been, and that is the way it will always be". WOW, I said! And I see two things wrong with this.

1. I know upper management within the company knows this goes on and does nothing about it.
2. The union knows this goes on and does nothing to stop it.
Yes the union will send a representative into one of these witch hunts that I talk about, were management will just calls you into a room and then tries and find something so that they can discipline you. Now I am not talking about when a union member makes a mistake and causes an accident in a work vehicle, causes an outage of services to customers, late for work constantly and or
