Reflections: My beliefs

In My Life, What Do I Believe In?

My beliefs have been forming, growing, changing and expanding ever since my brain, sensory systems and thought processes became functional and were activated. This, of course, is true for everyone. Our belief systems start to form at birth.

Every new life experience impacts and potentially influences what we believe in. From birth on, we are exposed to and influenced by the thoughts and beliefs of other persons.

Therefore it is highly unlikely that any of us ever becomes a completely independent thinker. It seems that we can always find someone else whose beliefs are similar to our own.

The frequency, rapidity and quantity of exposure to the beliefs of others has increased with every advance in systems of communication.

Total isolation from, and non communication with, the rest of humanity would be necessary in order to avoid the beliefs of everyone else and develop completely independent systems of belief.

I don't know when it happened but, at some time of enlightenment, I came to realized that a process of examination, comparison and either acceptance or rejection of new, or different, beliefs does occur and is continuously at work.

This process is often operational on subconscious levels. I do not know when this process began for me, but I am thankful that it did. I think that this process works for everyone, to some degree.

In this process, new experiences are examined, screened and compared with beliefs that were formulated as a result of prior experiences. Decisions and choices are then made.

Some of the beliefs engendered by new experiences are accepted and melded with prior beliefs.
Some of the beliefs engendered by new experiences become brand new components of existing belief systems.
Some of the beliefs that could, potentially, be engendered by new experiences are rejected and never become part of our existing beliefs.

It would be futile for me to attempt to state absolutely everything that I believe in. There are too many beliefs involved. I doubt that I could bring all of them into my conscious mind at any one time.

Therefore, I am going to attempt to present an inclusive summation of what I know that I believe in.

I believe that I am, that I exist, because I believe that I am!
I believe that all of us are, and that everything we know is, because we, collectively, believe it.

I believe that the forces of creation desire that I never attempt to do anything that is not in the best interest of everyone else!
I believe that the forces of creation desire that I seek to find and bring about all that I possibly can that is in the best interest of everyone else!

I believe that experience begets knowledge. I believe that knowledge begets belief. I believe that belief begets reality.
