Are we even capable of making individual choices anymore, or is it mandatory that we function collectively? Wherever others are planning to take us, we may not really want to go, but go we probably shall. The days of the settler is over. Pioneers are a thing of the past. Now, instead of seeking a lifestyle for us and our families, based on our own beliefs and expectations, we operate more as the cogs in a large machine. Positioned by social leverages, and not encouraged to break free, we will probably spend our lives in regret for the things we didn't do, and the things we did as well.
It isn't necessarily bad to be a part of a movement, or to lend ones support to a worthy cause, but this isn't a volunteer effort. Society today, be it American or otherwise is not inclined to the citizen. We will work wherever we have to, we will pay our taxes; whatever's required of us. Furthermore, we will go to war and fight if we are told to, regardless of our stand on the cause of battle.
Where does it all end? Where does it begin? Modern public school is perfect for it's purpose. This new and improved education system is perfectly fit to serve it's master. Industry. The kindergarten of today is not your father's play school. Now children are introduced to mainstream tragedy and slanted understandings from the start. As our surroundings grow further corrupt, and our social tensions mount, it is critical that if we care, we cradle our youth today, and feed them truth, or tomorrow we will see them become the product of everything we have wanted to stand against from the beginning. Not only evolution and sex-education matter in the classroom, but every other aspect of lifestyle and academic impact.
From the get-go our babies (and us ourselves) are monitored and reviewed. Report cards we once an intimate communication from concerned teachers to the parents of their pupils. These were perfect for tracking a child's progress in learning, and helped parents focus on children's trouble areas, as well as reward them for accomplishments. Now report card day holds little significance to families, and as afternoon studies cave in to video game time and television, the fact that a permanent record is being established hardly registers with many. There certainly are some high achievers out there, but in what? Are they learning to carry on the family business? Are they individuals seeking individualism?
