Where is WWE wrestling heading?

Will WWE ever recapture the luster of the mid-90's boom in professional wrestling? For over 30 years, I have enjoyed this sport that has now evolved into more of an entertainment product than a showcase of one's wrestling talents and abilities. I have a sincere appreciation for what these athletes do, the risks they are willing to take, and the sacrifices they make on a daily basis to entertain the fans. It's all about ring psychology in my book. I have all ready witnessed many 'waves' in professional wrestling and it seems to occur an average of about every ten years. However, now that wrestling is no longer territorial, per se, one must take into account that, until Total Non-Stop Action (TNA) expands into a national venue, World Wrestling Entertainment is primarily the solitary global conglomerate of professional wrestling, excuse me, sports entertainment at the current time.

First, one must consider 34 years of my life dedicated to living and breathing professsional wrestling. I can still recall the days of Florida Championship Wrestling with the Brisco Brothers, Kevin Sullivan, and a very young, very green Lex Lugar. I can still recall Georgia Championship Wrestling late Saturday nights as well as World Class Championship Wrestling as it seceeded from the National Wrestling Alliance. I can still recall two young, lean, muscular athletes by the name of the Dingo Warriors, Warrior Blade and Warrior Rock, you later became World Class Superstars by the wrestling names of Sting and The Ultimate Warrior. I remember the American Wrestling Alliance, National Wrestling Alliance (eventually World Championship Wrestling), and the World Wrestling Federation (evolving from the World Wide Wrestling Federation). However, every major promotion, meaning a national media prescence as well as a national touring prescence, eventually succumbed to the business acumen of one Vincent Kennedy McMahon, owner and Chairman of the Board of World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. Can I fault a business man for the current state of professional wrestling? Of course not. It was a good decision that, whether we fans like it or not, was in our best interest. Competition is good for business. It generates interest and it generates revenue. That's exactly what a business needs. But, in my mind, we have to consider one major factor that has led to the evolution of a sport into an entertainment product and that is the Internet itself. To look at where World Wrestling Entertainment
