Tips for buying a film camera as a gift

Buying a camera for a gift isnt as straightforward as you may think ,espicially with so much technology involved. You need to consider the person you are buying for as much as the camera you are buying. You have to think of what shape, size and type you are going to buy.Although not the only format digital is the most likely camera type you will find. You have to consider for example will the person you are buying for example understand the technology involved. Will they know how to access the pictures and then develop them.

The digital age means their are cameras avaidble from a few ponns through to a few thousand pounds, camears on phones and on digital film recorders. When the pictures are taken they can be loaded into a computer, direct into a printer or can be devolped in most supermarkets.

Cameras can be bought that are very similair to the old fashioned point and shoot variety that existed with films and go through to the multi function, multi lenses type used by the serious photographer and the proffesional.

When you have gone through all these considerations it is time to shop around for what you want, wether its based on money, quality or specifications. As with most things in life you get what you pay for,the more you pay the better you get.Saaying that if the person you are buying for is someone who just takes holiday pictures and doesnt need proffesional standards then the cameras arent expensive. The real expense happens when you go for cameras with multilple add ons like lenases and filters, also the picture quiality improves as well as the shots are taken with higher defination,if you are going for normal size prints this wont matter.Higher defination only really matters if you intend to blow up the pictures or are going to try and sell them.

There are hundreds of types and specifications to choose from but its easier then it sounds, set your limits based on funds and the person you are buying from and it becomes far simpler.Dont get blinded by science,do some research and make the decision. If you go to a camera specialist shop go armed with some informatuion so they dont try and sell you something you dont need.Dont buy multiple lenses and other gadgets unless the person you are buying for knows what they are doing and will use it all. Many cameras over a basic price will have zoom, flash and other trickery already built in.The only extra usually needed is a bigger memory card for the camera to allow more pictures to be stored on.
