Message in a Bottle

Woo! Yee ha! Here I go, traveling out the window of the car, riding the wind! Ugh! What a rush! A bit of a bumpy landing, though. Let's see. Where am I? I think it's a road side. Good! I've heard all kinds of tales from the packing plant. Tales of soda bottles taking long journeys to the sea. I hope my journey is exciting. So far, being chilled in that cooler and having that human's lips all over my rim wasn't too thrilling. Thank goodness I wasn't recycled again. I know I'm in for some fun eventually. In the meantime I can sit here for eons. The hot sun can beat on me, the air can freeze me, but I can stay right here for human generations.

Plop. . . Huh? . . . Plop. Plop. What's that? . . . Plop! Plop! I've been asleep in this ditch for a while; it's kind of boring here. Plop! Plop! Plop! Plop! . . . Raindrops! Oh, but they are refreshing. Woo! That was a nice gust of wind. I haven't moved in a while, so that was a nice little push. Woo! Here I go again.

Is the water rising under me? I feel kind of like I'm floating. Oh! Here we go! This water is fun to ride! Hang ten, dude! Hey, I'm not alone! Look at all the other trash traveling on my water ride. Hey guys! How long have you been sitting around? Where do you think we're headed? Huh? What do you mean watch out? Ewww! That piece of doggie doo almost ran right into me. Thanks for the warning, Mr. Oil Can. Look at what's flowing out of those pretty green lawns. I've never seen so much nitrogen. You got to love these rain showers. Look at the grease and dirt coming off of the roads with us. What pretty rainbows you guys are making on the road. Come on and join us! Here come some good pesticides off of that yard. I'm in really good company now. We should have a real pollutant and contaminant convention when we get to the nearest body of water. Hey Cigarette Butt, where are you headed? The Gulf of Mexico! Cool, you're small enough that you and a billion of your buddies just might make it. Good luck! Oh, hi! I haven't seen another soda bottle in a while. What's your sign? 7-Up? Well, 7-Up, you have nice curves. Do you, uh come here often? What are your goals in contamination? The beaches of Antarctica! Wow, you have lofty aspirations! I know a smart bottle like you can make it eventually if you have patience and go with the flow. Can I call you sometime? Where'd she go? Hey! I know you; you're the plastic rings that held my brothers and me together. You want to choke some wildlife?
