It was about ten (10) years ago that I met my ex-best friend, then I was about to finish my secondary education. He lives in the next house to ours and hardly could anybody differentiate where and who gave birth to who from the parents of both of us. We do almost everything in common; we always wore the same cloth especially during the festive period (Christmas to be precise), we normally took our birth together, travel together to visit his or my Elder sisters and brothers and family members. To mention but few, among those things we do in common. In fact, we stayed together for about four years engaging ourselves in some casual jobs before we got admission into the higher institution.
We both got admission in the same year, but to different schools. He got admission into his school to study Computer Science, and I to Accountancy. This time we were a little bit separated, but we do pay each other visits on regular basis. When he is free in his school, he do come to my school to spend weeks; the gesture which I also reciprocated. That was our situation for about two (3) years, after which we got National Diploma in our disciplines. However, we both went for a year Industrial Attachment during which there was a communication gap between us.
There came the time to go back to school for Higher National Diploma, we then decided to attend the same college. We obtained the form into the school and we were given admission to get Higher National Diploma certificate in our chosen careers. The two of us decided not to stay in the school hostel, so we arranged accommodation off campus. We share the same room and started living together as the best of friends. Hardly had we had any serious record of fight or misunderstanding between us.
In our second year in the college, my friend decided to go into school politics; the idea of which I objected not. The election was conducted and he emerged as his faculty's president. This post was the greatest enemy that had ever come between us. When the time came to prepare the receipt to be giving to students when they pay their annual due, I warned him to be careful so that he will not be lured into doing anything that may tarnish his image.
No sooner had they started the selling of the receipt, when the rumor flies around the campus that he made fake receipts. This they said he had done to rake the faculty's money into his pocket. When I heard it, I call him but he denied ever doing anything that was close to that.
