When preparing for baby's arrival one rearely considers a stroller ideal for daddy by way of height and simplicity.
Manufacturers today continue creations aimed at the custom of mums only.
Its tradition that as centuries have moved on mum always knows best not just when it comes to caring for baby but the mechanics of your basic stroller or pushchair too. Mum can carry bags, hold baby, lock the car door and get the stroller out of the trunk with one hand, and easy flick of the leg and the stroller is unfolded and fixed in place with baby ready to be secured. Have you ever seen a man do this? neither have i!
As strollers become more modern and technical, you can imagine a bloke panic trying to get a stroller up let alone deal with baby and shopping too. a gorwing concern for the increased number of domestic men, or stay at huome dads. But things change!
More and more daddies are getting involved than ever before from care and nurture of baby to buying the perfect nursery furniture including prmas, strollers and pushchairs, however, even top named brands on todays market simply do not cater or accomodate the needs for men.
Considering height, usually aimed at your avergae 5ft 5" mum, dads' height often averaging 5ft 10" means this extra few inches makes a simple trip to the store with baby in stroller a no no! Even if this didn't look silly to others by sight, it is very very uncomfortable and can result in serious health issues for taller men whom are having to bend to maintain better control of a stroller or to even reach the handles. Back injuries are most common and in rare cases hand and or wrist sprains too.
Grips on strollers also cater for the females' smaller hand size. Geneticaly Males have much larger hands and therefore stronger grip. We find that endless grips on strollers poorly ill strengthened handles, prove most difficult and even painfull and can cause callouses and/or strain.
The answer, forever and always, a Maclaren.
This is an internationaly recognised pushcchair (stroller) maufacturer. They have ranges for a baby's needs as well as parents, in all sizes, styles and colours.
Catalogues are available from most children/baby store outlets or easier access via the internet.
I myself have three children all raised with Maclarens. I myself am tall, my husband taller still at 6ft 4". We needed the perfect push chair that was a neutral colour, with managable handles for easy grip, large wheels for better control, a stroller that folded up small, was light weight, suitable for my youngest daughter from birth to three years and most importantly, had extendable handles to cater for our height difference.
The Maclaren Techno Classic. A purchase made over the internet and was very reasonalbly priced including delivery. A real recommendation. Theres always an answer!
Hopefully in the future manufacturers will realize the importance of having such diversity and dedication in their brands and the market for dad friendly strollers will grow and grow.
