Reflections: How to reach for the stars

achieve the goal, persevere and do not be dissuaded by others or your negative emotions, have a mentor who you trust to propel you forward. At all times perceive your goal(s) as already accomplished by seeing the glass as half full. Challenge yourself to do your best but do not allow the enemy of impatience surround you. Nothing happens instantly and nothing happens before its time, therefore take graduated baby steps towards your goals.

Continuously associate yourself with people who will extend help and guide you in a positive direction. In addition, never have a superego, so you will have an open mind to learn from others who may be better and wiser in paving the way for your success.

At some point in your life you will have to make the decision whether or not you want to continue associating with people who do not have the same perspective as you do. What I mean by this? If you have peers or others not believing in your dreams and are often negative about their own lives, then they will not propel you further but will continue to suppress your dreams. This is something I have experienced first hand during my decision to become a high achiever. My circle of peers and other associations have diminished significantly over the years, for the reason that I did not allow anyone to come between my dreams and me. Foremost, you have to know who you are this is why I stated previously having confidence and a healthy self esteem is important to your success. It acts as a defense mechanism for those who would otherwise dissuade you from your prime directive.

My yellow sticky, which I wrote the phrase "reach for the moon and conquer the stars," was one of many notes, wrote to myself. During my years of starting out as I referred to them as, I wrote many notes to myself. One such note I had listed 10 items on it and each time I would strike out the ones I had accomplished. I had neatly put away the rest of my notes and years later I discovered them still hidden in my purse. Upon opening one I had discovered nothing were crossed off, as I went through the list I also discovered I had done all that I had set out to do. It was a liberating feeling for me and for the first time I knew I had my stars but they weren't just stars, they were nebulas and they were bright and colorful. I finally felt I had conquered my goals and for that reason, my personal motto now is "A toast to dreams and accomplishing them." Set the bar high and challenge yourself to achieve your dreams. It will take sometime to achieve it but once you have it will be more than you can imagine. Remember what we do in life, define who we are and what we become.
