Probably one of the worst things that can happen to a parent is when there child runs away. I found it amazing how quickly community and law enforcement immediately believes that the parent is the cause of the child taking off. Obviously if everything was okay at home, and you were getting along with your child, your child would not have ran away.
This is a nightmare that you can not imagine, unless of course you have lived it. I once thought that when I heard parents say, he/she was there one moment, then gone the next, and that no one was helping them, to be a little bit unbelievable. Surely if a child disappears no matter what the age, you should be able to rest assured that someone is trying to find them.
Well, the truth is that there are so many runaways that the police and other law enforcement agencies basically put up a front to be looking for the child. When in fact they are not.

I ran away because I was being abuse!"
Children runaway for many reasons, the most common is they get too big for their britches!
