Spring Break destination: Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

With Spring Break quickly approaching, there is only one choice in the eyes of many college students across the country, Fort Lauderdale Florida. Not only is Fort Lauderdale the place where Spring Break truly started, but this is the place where many students return year after year to remember the great times they had there. to your list of things to do.

The annual tradition and rite of passage known as Spring Break actually began in 1955. Since then more and more college students have begun making the trip to Fort Lauderdale every year. This year alone the city expects at least 250,000 students to make their way to the area. What does that mean for you? Not only can you meet new people at every opportunity, but even if people from your school head down there, the chances are slim that you'll even find them in the crowd.

When it comes time to hit the beach, you'll find thousands of Spring Breakers hitting the sand for all the activities. There's pickup volleyball games constantly running, and a few of the resorts even sponsor beach volleyball tournaments. MTV also heads south to the beaches of Fort Lauderdale for Spring Break simply for the amount of activities. There's dance floors set up, and bands playing directly on the beach. You also have the chance to slip into the water. If swimming isn't exciting enough, try snorkeling, scuba diving, or even surfing. Then there's boat rides, fishing, and booze cruises aplenty.

If the beach gets boring, you have a host of options to keep you busy during your Spring Break trip. Blockbuster Golf and Games is a favorite for many college students. This is almost like a Chuck-E-Cheese for adults with batting cages, miniature golf, go karts, and dozens of arcade games. Or try one of the casinos in the area to beat the heat. Then there's the Everglades Day Safari where you can spend an entire day pretending you're in the middle of a real life African safari. Then there's the Swap Shop. The Swap Shop is a combination of flea market and outdoor carnival with more things to see and do than anyone can accomplish in a single day. And of course you have to add a stop by the Hard Rock Caf

Of course the real part of Spring Break is the nightlife, and Fort Lauderdale has more than enough for a week's stay. Start with the Laguna Beach Club, which is open until 4 am. Then head over to Rumor where big screen televisions broadcast music videos all night long. Next up is Howl at the Moon. This is the choice for many college students, especially since it's open every night of the week. Or try Revolution Live which constantly brings in bands to preform during the Spring Break season.

When it comes time to pick a place to stay during your Fort Lauderdale Spring Break trp, stick to the A1A. This small area is home to numerous independent hotels and local bars. You won't find the big chain motels, but you will find thousands of college students packed into the hotels and a non stop party atmosphere.

For some places that are a little more off the beaten path, try heading over to Riverwalk. This upscale open air market has everything a traveler could want, along with shops that some might recognize from home. Or try the Museum of Discovery and Science. This museum has information on the area, and fully interactive exhibits, along with natural marine life.
If you're looking for thousands of things to do this Spring Break, try heading to Fort Lauderdale, Florida and see what all the fuss is about.
