In defining happiness, each must consider, the options are quite diverse don't you think? As happiness really is dependent on the person, and the environment. Their association, is a major part of that process, if not integral to what is defined as happiness. Perhaps following that line of thought, we are all a result, of association, of environment. Being that the case we each have different views. In reading additional articles on this subject I see many recurring statements, often happiness is in doing for others. In offering a part of who you are to the world at large. In the sense that happiness comes from recognition.
The definition that comes to my mind, as an avid cyclist, who is happy to have this opportunity in my hands to grow with, would be in part with riding a bike. Traversing so many miles by my own power, and seeing things from a different perspective, at a speed I enjoy. To experience this happiness requires the choice, and the action to start and then continue. Through the many variables that cycling presents, as a vehicle. To deal with the diverse possibilities are what make it all that much more enjoyable for me. Of course that is not the only thing, the end all to happiness. Happiness extends beyond that, in having a good day, feeling productive when the day comes to a close. To know that each day, you are doing something, to make a difference in your life. Happiness, is in a good conversation, a warm smile, that old friend that remembers you and says hello even if you have not seen them for years. Happiness, is in writing an article, people enjoy. That each gains just a little bit better understanding of who they are and how life can be.
Happiness can be so simple, when a person decides to modify their view on the world, and instead of see what is bad, or negative, instead to look at what is positive. To realize all around them there is natural beauty, in the blooming of a flower, that cool breeze that seems to find you at just the right moment. Happiness is waking up each day and seeing how exciting you can make it. To realize you are so fortunate to see another day, to experience more of the worlds natural beauty. Happiness is a diverse as the people, the culture, what we see everyday. Beyond just the suits, or the dresses, to notice the smiling, the enjoyment of two individuals walking together. Just as simple as a good conversation that is between two individuals. Or the love so apparent through the body language that cannot be hidden. Happiness is just someone saying hello, not wanting anything, to offer a smile to anyone so interested. We all want recognition, that does not mean you need to be in the limelight with millions who know your name. Recognition, is simply showing you are human. When a complete stranger opens a door for you or holds the one you need to enter, smiles kindly. That is recognition of a need, and a kind gesture besides.
In closing happiness can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be. I don't know about you, but I would rather keep it simple and enjoy each day for what it is worth. Priceless, as time can be, use it to offer that bit of recognition, or that kind word, warm smile.
