TV show reviews: MythBusters

I have to say that Mythbusters is one of my personal favorite shows of all time. Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, the hosts of the show, are out to prove whether myths are plausible. With over 30 years of special effects experience between them, they are perfect for the job. Cracking open the most mind boggling myths of all time, they have helped to clear up a lot of confusion. The rest of the team, Tory Belleci, Kari Byron, and Grant Imahara, are definitely going down in MythBusters history, right up there with Adam and Jamie.

The show started back in October 2003, and has been going strong ever since. "Buster" their test dummy (who I may add has had to be replaced several times), has been through many a test, and has certainly lived up to his name. With his help, and the help of other "family member" test dummies, the MythBusters have been able to "bust" a lot of myths that for years have been thought possible. The team has also been able to confirm some myths, and some have been deemed plausible.

With Adam's quirky get it done now attitude, he always manages to make the show a giant laugh. Many times, he rushes into things so fast, that his experiments blow up on him... literally. His partner in crime Jamie, assesses things differently however, and thinks out his experiments before he performs them. The show wouldn not work without either of these two. They are the perfect duo. The other three members of the team, Tory, Kari, and Grant, also have their own personalities that really bring the show to life.

You do not have to be a science expert to watch this show. Though there is some scientific content to the show, mostly it is framed around common sense. The team makes sure that each myth is fully tested before they decide whether or not the myth is busted. If any viewers notice something they may have missed, you can bet they will tell them, and the team will definitely test it out again. Many of the shows ideas come from fans and viewers who are anxious to find out whether or not their myth is true.

The show airs on Discovery Channel. Check your local listings for times. This show is one of the funniest, most informative shows I have ever seen. It is certainly worth watching, and I definitely believe you should check it out! I give the show a 5/5.

CAUTION: Many of the experiments tested on the show are dangerous, and should not be done at home. Adam and Jamie will tell you this at the beginning of every episode, and it is definitely advice worth taking.
