Poetry: To my daughter

by Opielt

How Beautiful

How beautiful that day when she was born into my life
No she wasn't my first child
There was something special about this one
I couldn't put my finger on it at first
Then it hit me
She was a daughter
Before I had sons
This was my chance to show the world how I felt I could've been treated
This was my chance to show the world how I could've been cared for
I hope a day does not go by that I don't tell her how beautiful she is
Everything about her brings joy to my soul
The way she smiles
The way she plays
Even the way she cries
How beautiful she is
I can't wait to watch stars with her
Walk on sandy beaches with her
Have those long loving talks
How beautiful she is
My daughter
How beautiful she is
When I was in the fourth grade
My teacher gave us a simple way to remember how to spell beautiful
Bea u ti ful
Now I know why
How beautiful she is
