Tips for surviving your first body piercing

First body piercings are always the scariest. You never know what to expect and the piercer always tries to psych you up so they make it sound worse than it really is. I remember mine like it was yesterday. It was my belly button, I do not have it anymore, but I remember every moment of it getting done.

First thing you need to do is find a good piercer, one that you are satisfied with and who does good work. The guy that did mine was pretty crappy, but I did not find that out until after the piercing and after it healed. It ended up being pretty crooked, so I vowed never to go back there ever again. All piercers should have portfolios, check them out, ask lots of questions. A great piercer will never get annoyed my too many questions. After you find a piercer and set up the appointment, you are good to go.

Before you go and get pierced, make sure you eat. You do not want an empty stomach, this could greatly increase the odds of you passing out. Take a bottle of water with you too, trust me, it is for the best. Your adrenaline will be pumping so much and you will feel very lightheaded. Even after my last piercing which was my fourteenth, I was still adrenaline crazy and I got lightheaded, but I ate some crackers beforehand and this greatly helped.

Always remember to listen to the piercer and STAY STILL, you do not want them to slip and mess up. They will tell you how to breath and that you NEED to breath. I always find myself holding my breath and they always talk me through it. If you hold your breath, you will probably pass out too! The setup and placement is what takes the longers and that is what is the scariest. Once they go to pierce you, it only takes a split second and then it is over, I always feel so tired afterwards because of the adrenaline crash!

So if you follow these suggestions for a first time or anytime piercing, you will be fine. There is nothing to worry about and you will be so happy when you are done and when you are sporting a hot piercing! Everyone will be jealous and the stories you have to tell about getting it done will never grow old! Piercings are fun and most of the time are not permanent, so be creative!
