US elections 2008: Whose win would be more historically important: Obama or Clinton?

Results so far:

Obama
62% 207 votes Total: 333 votes
Clinton
38% 126 votes

Hillary or Barack Obama, history in the making, if won of them wins the general election. But we're a long way from the general elections, and if the Democrats haven't learned from the past, or can't see the folly of Obama's past, they may be doomed for a repeat of 2000 and 2004. With the same kind of whistling-in-the-dark, head-in-the-sand sureness of the past two presidential elections, the democrats may awake the morning after the upcoming election to find headlines screaming: 'McCain Wins!'

As of now the heir apparent to the Democratic ticket is Barack Obama, should the become reality, the Democrats will once again find themselves on a slippery slope of their own creation. Not because of historical significance in being black, anymore than Clinton being female, or McCain the oldest nominee to ever become a president, but because of the serious, unvetted baggage Barack Obama is dragging with him into a general election should he make it that far. At the moment Americans are akin to the Titanic, only seeing the tip of the iceberg, but in a general election you can rest assured the Republicans will use what little we now know, multiply it a hundred-fold and find every shred of ill thought and ill going ever perpetuated by Obama and associates. He will go down in flames to crash and burn, resting beside the political grave markers of Gore and Kerry.

Consider just the ammunition the RNC are loading their guns with presently. Muslim ties from Borack's father's past; a wild-eyed fanatical spiritual mentor calling for God to damn America, ties to the terrorist group, the Weatherman, whose leader bombed US buildings, and Barack still refers to as a friend; ties with radical, Louis Farrikan whose has called for the downfall of America; A friend and business associate indicted on felony charges that he purchased his mansion from at a bargain basement price; wife who has never proud of America until her husband decided to run for president, Obama postalizing about "typical whites; and Obama captured on tape espousing that small town America turns to religion - and guns - in times of bitterness.

Wrap all this, and, more to come, with a paper-thin political resume, and you've packaged up a Democratic loser ... again. The RNC isn't looking for the next shoe to drop, their waiting on the next whole show rack to come tumbling down. Though they are no doubt not waiting, only God knows how much of Obama's unknown illicit past they dug up and are holding back for
