Gifts for the person who has everything

TEDDY TOURS

You're cudgelling your brain about a present for someone who's already got everything? Maybe you want to give one to yourself but don't know what you'd really like? Despair not, salvation is nigh provided you or the person in question has got a teddy or another cuddly toy.

As I'm writing for grown-ups, I can assume that your teddy has already lived with you for some time, he's accompanied you through thick and thin and ups and downs, outwardly calm - but do you know if the catastrophes he's witnessed haven't got to him? Shouldn't you begrudge him some time off, a nice holiday away from it all? This is the idea behind www.teddy-in-munich.de whose homepage I've studied for you.

If you click on the link of the homepage you'll see a bright green site with the red/yellow curved title Teddy in Munich' and the cover of a German guide book, the Polyglott Reisefhrer fr Teddy & CO (Guidebook for Teddy & Co), on the left margin three arrows point to the words: German / English / Chinese, click on the English version and you'll be right on the site idea' as the book is only of interest to German readers. It gives you the idea behind the enterprise (which I've outlined above) and introduces the founders and owners of the enterprise, Christopher Bohm and Elke Verhogen, two middle-aged people as they state themselves. Why that should be important I don't know, maybe they want to appear reputable.

While one is reading the various sites which are quite conventionally made up - red/yellow curved headline Teddy in Munich, white text on bright green ground underneath - various photos are appearing in the top left corner showing teddies, alone or together with human beings, sitting, standing or lying somewhere in Munich.

The following site is called itinerary' and informs the reader about the locations Teddy will visit: the Olympic Tower, the Hofbrauhaus, the Hard Rock Cafe, the National Theatre, the Deutsche Museum (similar to the Science Museum in London) and BMW world, should Teddy visit Munich in the month of October, he will also be taken to the Oktoberfest. Should he be of the courageous disposition he can go on a Munich-by-night trip, if he's shy he can take part in an alternative game evening.

Game evening' doesn't sound quite right to me but translated from German, the English of the site is not perfect but understandable most of the time, occasionally a German article is used instead of an English one, but so what! I'm sure you don't know what
