When I first started wearing makeup, lipstick was my weapon of choice. My first shade of lipstick was a brick red that I had purchased from the Wuerzburg PX (in Germany). It did not faze me that this color was just too harsh for my skin tone; I figured as a woman I would have to suffer anyway. Besides, lipstick was harmless back in my middle school days.
However, my beauty fix led me down another path of lip wear: lipgloss in all pots and tubes, colors and flavors. The right brand applied smoothly and discreetly without me worrying about clown lips. It was my secret power and rite of simplicity. Slowly I abandoned my lipstick for lipgloss. Lipgloss was more sophisticated, in my opinion.
-My Top 10 Reasons for Lipgloss-
I appreciated the fact that I didn't have to apply lip liner that would later bleed into the corners of my mouth.
There was no need to worry about color creasing in my lips along with other debris.
Lipgloss actually tasted good when I licked my lips! I thought about how that was a brilliant marketing ploy every time I applied and reapplied my lipgloss.
(To apply lipgloss, I really did not need a mirror, as the color was usually clear. If I made a mistake, it was rarely noticeable, keeping cruel classmates at bay.
My fear of rainbow-colored teeth faded away, as lipgloss could appear on my teeth but would not inspire strange looks and rude giggling from bystanders.
Lipgloss doesn't leave an obvious stain on straws, your main squeeze, on your favorite outfit or anywhere else you decide to plant your lips.
Most lipglosses have a pleasant smell while lipsticks have a sort of muted tang. I can definitely see lead being an issue in lipsticks.
Lipgloss is the ultimate cosmetic because it's like the makeup version of black - it goes with
just about anything and everything without looking like a faux pas.
When writing a song about makeup, lipgloss is a popular choice. Just ask David Marchese and Lil' Mama. After hearing how lipgloss "is poppin'," I went out and bought a Kimora Lee Simmons (KLS) lip gloss charm bracelet.
In fact, in department stores such as Macy's and Sephora, you can see lipgloss charm bracelets such as Dior Dior Pretty Charms. It comes with two shades of lip gloss packaged into one. You don't see that type of creativity with lipstick. If you aren't a huge fan of bangles, than you could also get a lipgloss necklace or a ring.
Lipgloss can be a wondrous tool in enhancing one's health and appearance. Based on a website I visited, one such lipgloss provided the consumer with chromium, L-carnitine and Super Citrimax, which are all key ingredients for an energy boost. I don't know how many consumers have taken to this product but that is an interesting claim.
However, more realistically, lipgloss can heal the delicate skin of the lips, providing aloe vera, soybean extract, various vitamins, peppermint and the like. Not to mention that most lip plumpers are lipglosses infused with chemicals designed to transform your lips into perfect pouters.
From lipstick lover to gloss girl, I will always root for the ever popular and flirty lipgloss!
