After receiving a hefty bonus from the U.S. Navy, my first major purchase was a laptop. Browsing through aisle after aisle at Nebraska Furniture Mart, I fell in love with a HP Pavilion dv6000. Granted my baby isn't a MacBook but it is still in a class by itself.
I admit that the smooth, sable finish was beautiful to look at, especially with its patented swirling, but over time, the need for originality became a priority. At that moment, my laptop became a huge accessory in need of revamping all in the name of fashion.
~LAPTOP SKINS~
+SKYN (skynmobile.com) specializes in laptop skins, laptop covers, and other fashionable laptop accessories. For covers, there are five categories from which to choose:
*Basic (Pretty Pink, Baby Pink, Ocean Blue, Lilac and Lime Green): Just as the name implies, each laptop skin comes in five basic colors.
*Crystallized (Name, Butterfly and Hearts): Name is a shiny opal, Butterfly is a shimmering Pretty Pink and Hearts is a reflective violet. Each skin can be personalized with Swarovski crystals in a variety of white, pink or black. The user can have up to seven letters put on their laptop skin.
*Eva Collection (Pink, Blue and Purple): In true high fashion, each skin is a retro masterpiece flowers and swirls on a black background.
*Miscellaneous (Sketch, Cherry Blossom, Sea Breeze and Jade): To illustrate the possibilities for Sketch, a fuchsia and lime green polka dotted bikini graces the surface of a laptop. Based on the picture, the user can use Sharpie markers to draw on the Sketch laptop skin.
The Cherry Blossom cover consists of white blossoms on a vermilion background. Sea Breeze is a combination of midnight blue, periwinkle, white, sea green, teal and baby blue waves. Jade is a psychedelic layout, complete with circular flowers (in either white/tangerine/vermilion or pale pink/tangerine/vermilion) on a lime green background.
*Monogram (Pearl, Ruby, Pretty Pink, Baby Pink, Ocean Blue, Lilac and Lime Green): Similar to the Crystallized skins, Monogram also uses Swarovski crystals. The difference is that if you want more than one letter put on your laptop skin, each letter is $5 more. Furthermore, Monogram has more choices than the Crystallized skins.
For $40, each cover is of a glossy finish, can be reused, and can be removed without damaging the design of the laptop skin. Clicking on the Laptop Sizing Chart will educate the user on laptop cover dimensions and 11 laptop brands, from Acer to Toshiba. If you can't find your laptop model,
