Finding inexpensive college textbooks

make sure you return the book as soon as you find out that you do not need it.

4. Where there's a will there's a way! Networking is extremely important in college. Not just because it provides a great benefit in the long-run, but because it can have a tremendous benefit in the short-term. Get to know the people in your major or those taking the same classes as you. That way, after the end of the semester all of you can trade off on books. You know, I scratch your back and you scratch mine. Better fit, you give me your book and I will give you mine. In doing so, you will save a LOT of money.

5. Use prior editions. How upset are you when you go to buy the used book, but there are only the new ones? The dreadful new edition. Realize that most textbooks do not change much from one edition to the next. The writer may rearrange chapters here or add a chapter there or delete a page over there. If you take my advice in tip 4 and network then you could make great use out of prior editions. By simply comparing the new edition with the old edition, you can easily solve the task of determining what changed (if you are really smart then you would have gotten the old edition through networking, wink wink). If there are any updates then you can share the book with your "network" buddy for that chapter. Better yet, sometimes the chapter that was updated is not a part of the professor's curriculum.

Come on, college is expensive. It is the first time you have to take care of yourself. You are responsible for your own meals, whether or not you make it to classes (and on time), what time you get home at night (or in the morning), and doing your laundry (unless you wear the same clothes over and wait until breaks to go home and wash them). Either way, college is a new experiencea costly new experience. So why not make the most of it and reduce the cost all at the same time. Just think the more you save in books, the more money if you have for Ramen noodles and pizzaor beer (whichever one you prefer).
