Raising Helium to the next level: Helium's Writing Standards

- RISING HELIUM TO THE NEXT LEVEL - HELIUMS WRITING STANDARDS -

As a relatively new site to the worldwide web Helium.com has already stamped it's very impressive mark on the online writing community. Since its arrival fifteen months ago Helium.com has grown considerably in stature. Status by nature brings with it increased attention and with this mounting popularity comes responsibility.

The standard of writing and the vast variety of information that Helium has to offer is what has brought traffic to this ever growing site. The knowledge bank is growing by the minute and ever expanding its portals. What we have to ensure is that the knowledge that we are imparting is correct, relevant and original to keep the readers returning to us time after time. The writing standards can be raised to the next level by each and every one of us.

As writers, we are all writing to our best ability hopefully to produce valid, interesting and informative information. I have recently looked at my earlier articles that I have posted on here and realised they were not in fact up to standard. So what I propose to do is to re-write them completely, leapfrog them, and hopefully bring the articles that were sub-standard to a much better level. That is one way that I have found to raise the bar somewhat; by tidying up my earlier articles. They still get read and therefore why not bring them up to scratch and improve our overall portfolio.

I think it is up to all of us to be vigilant and look out for articles that fall below Helium's writing standard. If there is a piece where the word count is less than 350-400 for example; I don't personally think that you can cover a subject in fewer words than this. In fact I would find it hard to include all information necessary within the 350-400. Though I believe that the word count is a relatively new thing so I'm not sure how that would work officially. The overly long article can be too much for the eye and the brain will begin to wander, no matter how good the article is. That is why the guidelines of 350-400 to 1,500 words are in place and there is good reason for that.

Also if there is an article that has slipped through which has incorrect information and/or spelling/grammar mistakes, then the writer should be encouraged to re-write and leapfrog said article. For our visitors this might just be the first article that they happen to read upon entering the site and they may just come to the overall conclusion that this is our general standard.
