Honey and cinnamon are quite nutritious, and they taste good too. Both cinnamon and honey help you boost your metabolism and lose weight. I myself eat the Kashi cinnamon harvest cereal for breakfast almost every morning and it really helps me maintain my weight. I also like to eat oatmeal with some honey and cinnamon on top. It's low cost, and great on a cold winter day. Cinnamon and honey also have nutrients and vitamins that your body needs, which can help improve your health.
According to thyroid expert Mary Shomon, cinnamon has the ability to reduce blood sugar, and increase insulin levels, results, which have even been documented in a respected diabetes journal. It's cinnamon's effect on blood sugar that makes it a potential help in the fight against obesity, insulin resistance, also known as "prediabetes," and the "Metabolic Syndrome."
While honey and cinnamon are often associated with breakfast, tea, and coffee, they can be incorporated into lunch and dinner meals as well. Why not use a spoon of honey on your chicken or shrimp to give it a sweet flavor? Why not add some honey to your fish or sweet potatoes? How about adding some cinnamon to your fruit or your turkey. Many ethnic foods, especially Middle Eastern and Italian dishes contain lots of honey and cinnamon so if you're not afraid to try something new, why not give some ethnic dishes a try? Most ethnic dishes tend to be more nutritious than American dishes anyway so it's worth it to add a few to your diet.
According to fitness expert Ruth Tan, the latest theory based on the hibernation diet also builds a link between honey and weight loss. This theory suggests taking a generous spoonful or two of honey at night, either as a warm drink or straight from the jar, and promises to help people sleep and lose weight at the same time by fuelling the liver, speeding up fat-burning metabolism and easing stress hormones. Now don't get me wrong, you're not going to lose weight or get many health benefits from eating a cinnabon or honeybun. In fact, many people don't know this but a Cinnabon has 800, so they really should be avoided.
