To serve your country we had to part
taking with you half my heart
A letter from you a letter from me
sharing how we want things to be
Months go by and ever still
my heart is yours and always will
I miss so much without you here:
the smell of your skin when you are near
the taste of your lips, that look in your eye
your arms around me when I cry
your sense of humor, your magical smile
your somewhat quirky sense of style
the way you dance like a spaghetti string
or hit off notes as you try to sing
the way you cuddled close to me
being with you safe and free
I ache inside
though filled with pride
Soldier please hurry home

I long for you...
